Egyptian is a dialect of arabic spoken by 100 million people who are spread along a narrow strip of land beside 1500km of the river Nile. Egyptian arabic is a living, ever-changing language; it's not taught in schools and it's rarely written down.

As a result, there are considerable variations in vocabulary and pronunciation. Let's not talk about spelling :-/. The details in this dictionary have been checked and cross-checked, but there will always be mistakes and inconsistencies.

The dictionary is supplied 'as is': you are welcome to use it on condition that you do not hold me responsible for any loss, injury or embarrassment that may result from its use.
